Purpose:
|
To compare effects of Photorefractive Keratectomy (PRK) surgery by 3methodes (Conventional,IrisRegistration,Spherical Equivalent) in correcting astigmatism<1.00 D and Higher Order Aberrations in myopic- astigmatism patients

Methods:
|
The charts of 40 patients(72 eyes) undergoing PRK surgery for the correction of myopia with astigmatism<1.00D at the Bina Eye Center in Tehran City ,were respectively reviewed. Astigmatism and Higher Order Aberrations(HOAs) outcomes at 6monthes postoperatively were compared with initial data

Results:
|
Decreasing astigmatism after Conventional and Iris Registration PRK compared with increased astigmatism in SE PRK (p<0.001).Secondary Spherical Aberration increased in Conventional group in 4mm pupil(p=0.025). trefoil decreased in 4 mm pupil after surgery(p=0.005). Coma increased in 6mm pupil in Iris Registration groupe (p=0.024). Spherical aberration decreased in Iris Registration group in 4 mm pupil(p=0.001). In Spherical Equivalent group , Coma increased in 4 and 6 mm pupil and Spherical aberration increased just in 6 mm pupil (p=0.024)

Conclusion:
|
Despite SE PRK, Conventional and Iris Registration PRK can decreased amount of postoperative astigmatism .Total HOAs increased in Spherical Equivalent group more than two others
