Purpose:
To report a case of branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) following toxoplasma retino-choroiditis
Methods:
The patient was a 23-year-old female with complaint of blurred vision and floater ,who underwent ocular examinations and imagings
Results:
Fundus examination showed vitreous hemorrhage ,a nasal chorioretinal scar associated with nasal branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO) and retinal neovascularization (NVE) in the right eye. Fluorescein angiography (FAG) confirmed nasal BRVO and NVE. Systemic evaluations for risk factors of BRVO were unremarkable. The patient had history of nasal active toxoplasmosis chorioretinitis 3 years ago.Sectorial retinal photocoagulation of non perfusion areas of nasal retina according to FAG was performed .Clearing of VH and regression of NVE was happened after 2 months.
Conclusion:
Ocular toxoplasmosis can cause retinal vascular changes including branch retinal vein occlusion associated with retinal neovascularization, which is a rare complication of the disease.
