Purpose:
To compare the values of preoperative and postoperative Intraocular Lens power in patients in Eyes with keraring Implantation.
Methods:
This study was performed on 19 eyes from 18 Keratoconic patients who were underwent KeraRing implantation. All topographic and refractive data including the uncorrected distance visual acuities (UDVA) , corrected distance visual acuities (CDVA), Spherical equivalent, Axial Length, keratometric index (K1 and K2) and IOL calculation formulae including SRK/T, SRK/II, Holladay 1 and HofferQ were recorded pre-operatively and 3 months after surgery.
Results:
3 months after implantation, Significant changes was observed on all calculation formulae ; SRK/T (p<0.001); SRK/II (p<0/001); Holladay 1 (p<0.001) and HofferQ (p<0.001). SRK/II value showed less increasing from pre-operation (14.26±2.74) to post-operation (19.47±4.11) in comparison to other formulas. Axial Length (AL) was decreased but not significantly (p<0.331). There were also significant changes in UCVA (p<0.001), SE (p<0.001), K1 (p<0.001) and K2 (p<0.001) 3 months postoperation.
Conclusion:
Despite of improvement in visual, refractive, and topography outcomes after KeraRing implantation, there was a significantly changes in IOL calculation formulas values. However, ICRS procedure doesn’t interfere considerably with lens location and AL in eyes, It seems necessary to design new formulas for IOL values calculation after ICRS implantation.
