Purpose:
|
To compare usage of bandage contact lens (BCL) and eye patching on treatment of patient’s signs and symptoms with photokeratitis referred to Feiz Eye Hospital in Isfahan in 2015.
|
Methods:
|
This prospective study included 32 patients with bilateral photokeratitis due to welder’s flash with equal severity. After primary evaluation BCL placed for one eye and patching done for another one. Reexamination performed 12 to 24 hours later and severity of pain, corneal Punctate Epithelial Erosion (PEE) and duration of improvement of symptoms compared in both eyes.

Results:

Our findings revealed that corneal PEE and duration of improvement were not deferent statistically significant but compliance of BCL was better.
|
Conclusion:
|
According to this study BCL can use in patients with photokeratitis instead of eye patching.
