Purpose:
Adequate visualization and identification of the epiretinal membranes and internal limiting membrane are of paramount importance in modern vitreoretinal surgery. Removal of these membranes could be traumatic and challenging during vitrectomy in macula off retinal detachment surgeries. Vital dyes are used in order to stain these transparent tissues and facilitate their manipulation during vitreous surgery. There are reports of retinal and retinal pigment epithelium toxicity due to use of these vital dyes. Intraoperative use of perfluorocarbone (DK-Line) to fleten macula before using Brilliant peel could help to have a controled macular membrane staining and use a minimal amount of dye whitch result in less possible toxicity.
Methods:
In this poster I show a method for Brilliant peel - DK-Line exchange in a patient with macula off bollous retinal detachment in the absence of macular hole.
Results:
Epiretinal membrane and ILM were removed safely and easly with this method.
Conclusion:
Brilliant peel - DK-Line exchange could be used in RRD surgery
