In this technique, at first, the Malyugin ring is used in the usual fashion. After creating capsulorhexis, lateral scrolls of the Malyugin ring are released and repositioned to entrap both the anterior capsulorhexis and pupil margin at against-the-wound meridian (3 and 9 o’clock position) in order to fixate unstable capsular bag to the iris. Phacoemulsification is performed and the ring is removed after lens implantation.
Conclusion:
With this method, both capsular stabilization and pupil expansion are achieved with the same instrument and at the same time.
