Purpose:
To evaluate the clinical results after implantation of the MyoRing by using of femtosecond laser technology in eyes with keratoconus.
Methods:
In prospective clinical trial, 27 eyes of 15 patients with stable keratoconus were included. MyoRing inserts of 320 μm in thickness and 5 mm in diameter were implanted into an intrastromal corneal pocket created by using of femtosecond technology. Visual, refractive errors, corneal topography and pachymetry changes were evaluated during a 6-month follow-up.
Results:
The mean uncorrected distance visual acuity significantly improve from 1.73±0.53 logMAR to 0.54±0.40 log MAR. The mean corrected distance visual acuity significantly improve from 0.59±0.47 log MAR to 0.27±0.16 log MAR(P< 0.000). The mean decrease in mean keratometery from preoperative to 6 months postoperative was -6.41±3.62 D.The mean keratometery values were also statistically significantly less at 6 months than preoperative.
Conclusion:
: MyoRing implantation using femtosecond would be a safe and effective method to treat selected cases of keratoconus is a useful option for the treatment of keratoconus.
