Purpose:
to investigate the mean corneal power (CP) and analysis of CA (different types) in eyes with Pseudoexfoliation syndrome (PXS) compared to without PXS.
Methods:
CP and CA of all age-related cataract patients with and without PXF those attending the eye clinic over a 4-month period were prospectively collected and analyzed.
Results:
Data were available on 118 eyes with and without PXS. PXS was found in 36.4% (43) of the eyes. CA was found in 72.9% (86) of eyes but it observed in 69.8 % (30) of eyes with PXS. Mean CA was 0.994 ± 1.24 SD in eyes with PXS and it was 0.83 ± 0.83 SD in eyes without PXS. Differences for Mean CA in patients with and without PXS was not statistically significant (p=0.4). Against the rule stigmatism observed in 55.8% eyes with PXS and it was 34.7% In patients without PXF and this differences was statistically significant (p=0.02).
Conclusion:
Mean CA in eyes with PXS along with age related-cataract is more common than eyes without PXS. However, this difference is clinically significant but it is not statistically significant. Also by present study against the rule stigmatism in patients with PXS was statically more common than patients without PXS.
