Purpose:
|
to investigate the IOP rate and its relation to some other systemic factors in Mashhad population
|

Methods:
|
This is a cross sectional study with stratified cluster sampling technique on Mashhad habitants in different regions. To gather data, we have used interview (filling questionnaires) and examinations. Patients' examinations can be classified as either general or ophthalmic. General examinations included BP (systolic and diastolic), and Body Mass Index (BMI) measurements done by a nurse; while ophthalmic examinations including slit-lamp examinations and measurements of IOP and cup-disk ratio (CDR) were done by an ophthalmology resident.

Results:
|
The number of participants in this study was 4837 persons with the mean age of 31.6 years. The IOP mean in the sample study was 12.84 mmHg for the right eye and 12.92 for the left one, there is no significant difference in IOP mean for both eyes between males and females,there is a significant direct relationship between age and IOP, a significant direct linear relationship between IOP and CDR for both eyes

Conclusion:

Although the outcomes of this study were similar to most studies in this field, numerous studies have yielded different results
