Purpose:
To evaluate the effect of multiple intravitreal Bevacizumab injection on the corneal endothelial cells.
Methods:
40 eyes of 40 CRVO patients underwent multiple intravitreal bevacizumab injections monthly (three times). 1.25 mg / 0.1cc bevacizumab injected intravitreally from 3.5 mm posterior to the limbus. All patients evaluated by specular microscopy before injection and one month after third injection.
Results:
There was no adverse effect on corneal endothelium after multiple intravitreal bevacizumab injections ( cumulative dose : 3.75 mg ) one month after third injection. There was no statistically significant change in corneal endothelial cell density after bevacizumab injection(CD: P=0.058).cell size did not change significantly after treatment (P=0.07).cell variance and central corneal thickness difference before and after injection was not significant ( CV:0.291 ,CCT: 0.202).
Conclusion:
multiple intravitreal bevacizumab injections in cumulative dose 3.75 mg (1.25mg/ 0.1cc ×3) has no daverse effect on corneal endothelial cells
