Purpose:
|
Purpose of current study is determination of prevalence of type A personality and other possible risk factors in patients with CSC .
|

Methods:
|
This study is a descriptive study. The study was conducted on 38 cases of CSC. A standard questionnaire of 55 questions used to determine type A-B personality and a complete history was taken. Statistical analysis was done using SPSS 16.0 software.

Results:
|
This study evaluated 38 patients with initial diagnosis of CSC. The mean age was 34.71 years and SD was 8.52 respectively. 71.1 percent were male. type A personality in patients with CSC was more frequent (44.7%) comparing with normal population. The age of 82.4 percent of patients with type A personality was under 34 that was statistically significant (P=0.03). Also 71.05 percent of patients have experienced great emotional stress before the onset of illness.

Conclusion:
|
Type A personality is one of the CSC risk factors, especially at younger ages. Personality factors, critical life events, sociology-demographic and socioeconomic status are main risk factors for the CSC.
