Purpose:
To evaluate the effect of orbital vector and other biometric parameter axial length and hertel finding on develeopment on involutional entropion or ectropion.
Methods:
167 eyes, 128 eyes with entropion and 39 eyes with ectropion were included. Axial length and hertel exophthalmometry were evaluated. orbital vector was determined clinically.
Results:
Significant correlation was found between gender and type of eyelid malposition. No significant correlation was found between axial length and entropion and ectropion. positive and negative orbital vectors were observed in 96 percent on entropion and 93 percent of ectropions. this associations was strongly significant.
Conclusion:
Considering that orbital vector is influenced by the position of globe and inferior orbital rim, the association between orbital vector and involutional eyelid malposition found in our study suggest that evaluation of easily measurable orbital vector may help determining progression of eyelid to either invulotional entropion or ectropion.
