Purpose:

retinopathy of prematurity is increasing due to chance of viablity of premature neonate. intra vitreal bevacizumab became a common treatment for this entity and uses widespread in the world. The aim of this study was looking at effect of intravitreal bevacizumab on child growth and development.

Methods:

Consecutively applied 60 childs (30 case and 30 control). case group was treated with intravitreal bevacizumab and control group didnt treat with intra vitreal bevacizumab.all participats was premature childs with history of ROP. development assessed in 2 groups according to Ages & Stages Questionnaire critrea. Ages & Stages Questionnaire critrea includes 6 items 1-relationship 2-gross work 3-fine work 4-social status 5-problem resolving 6-overall issues that all child evaluated in 2 follow ups about these criteria.6 items compared between 2 group of case and cotrol

Results:

assessment in the 6 categories in 6 & 12 & 18 & 24 month old after birth was done. case & control group have not significant difference in all categories(p>0.05) only there was significant difference in social category(p=0.013). there was social developmental delay in case group that treated by intravitreal bevacizumab

Conclusion:

intravitreal injection of bevacizumab have no effect on neuro-developmental process of growth in child ( in expection on social development on ASQ criteria)
