Purpose:
|
To assess the frequency causes of eye discharge on patients who referred to Feiz hospital in Isfahan in 2011-2014.
|
|
Methods:
|
This retrospective study was done on patients whom referred to Feiz hospital for enucleation. Age, sex, cause of enucleation, visual acuity, kind of surgery, and eye were recorded and compared.
|
|
Results:
|
This study consists of 204 patients with mean age of 52.18 ± 24.04 (range 2-92 years) include 150 (73.5%) male and 54 (26.5%) female.
The most enucleation was done respectively, on patients with trauma 84 (41.2%), corneal ulcer 35(17.2%), painful blind eye 30 (14.7%), orbital tumor 23 (11.3%), endophthalmitis 18(8.8%), glaucoma 8 (3.9%), CRVO 3 (1.5%), Yeast infection 2 (1%) and exophthalmia 1 (0.5%).
94 patients (46.1%) were from Isfahan, 89 (43.6%) around Isfahan and 21 patients (10.3%) were from another cities.
135 patients (66.2%) undergone evisceration, 54 patients (7.4%) enucleation and 15 patients (7.4%) exantration.

Conclusion:
|
This study was shown that the principle cause of enucleation is due to preventable traumas; therefore, care of eyes can be help people about this problem.
