Purpose:
To describe the clinical presentation and management of scleral erosion and choroidal prolapse after scleral buckling procedures for the treatment of retinal detachment.
Methods:
The authors identified two patients from their practices who had scleral erosion and choroidal prolapse after scleral buckling procedures for the treatment of retinal detachment.
Results:
The patients had myopia. The interval between placement of the scleral buckle and development complication 5 and 10 years. The intruding buckle and encircling band removed. The patients underwent scleral patch graft and amniotic membrane graft .visual acuity stabilized in patients and the retina remained attached in two cases.(video)
Conclusion:
Scleral erosion and choroidal prolapse are rare complications of scleral buckling procedures. Scleral patch graft and amniotic membrane graft is effective management of choroidal prolapse after scleral buckling procedures.(video)
