Purpose:
Primary intraosseous hemangiomas(PIOH) are rare benign tumors. most of them arise from vertebrae or skull. Involvement of orbit is extremely rare. We present one neonate patient with aggressive growth of orbital intraosseous capillary hemangioma.
Methods:
A case report
Results:
An otherwise well 3 month old boy was referred to our clinic with history of progressive bulging on right superior orbital rim with aggressive growth rate since 4 week ago. examination revealed a hard reddish immobile mass on the right superior orbital margin. There was complete ptosis on right eye and because of this huge mass ophthalmic examination was impossible.CT scans showed a lesion on superior and supratemporal margin of right eye protruding superiorly and inferiorly toward the orbital cavity and anterior cranial fossa.destruction of orbital rim was visible. The tumor destructed orbital roof laterally and during surgery dura layer exposed. The tumor was completely extradural and a portion of the dura was resected to ensure clear margins.
Conclusion:
Histology finding revealed a capillary hemangioma. In our research for published case reports about “Intraosseous orbital hemangiomas”, we found maximum 50 cases.
